Virtual fields are more interesting (and more sophisticated ;-) compared with previous field types. These fields allow you to combine other fields' values into some virtual entity and operate this entity as a whole. In other words, when you create a Virtual field, what you actually do is you create logical links between existing filed values and process them as one. Sounds complicated? It's not. To make things more understandable, let's consider the following example. Say, you need to automatically fill in an online questionnaire. You need to input your full name, which consists of your first, middle and last name. Additionally, you wish to begin the sentence with "My name is..." and then continue with your full name. Here goes the Virtual field approach to do this neatly and smoothly. You first create three different single-line text fields and entitle them correspondingly First Name, Second/Middle Name and Last Name. Then you create a Virtual field, entitle it My Full Name and include the previously created fields into it by clicking the Add button and selecting the desired fields from the dialog box:
After you do this, add the beginning of the sentence (My name is).
Your virtual field then should then look as follows:
Click OK to view your virtual field. Note, that the field is highlighted yellow for easy visual identification:
Now, you need to bind your newly created virtual field to the corresponding field on the web page with the questionnaire and iNetFormFiller will automatically fill it in using the values specified in the virtual field. Note that you only have to update the contents of any of the fields included into the virtual field, and the virtual filed will automatically use the updated values. Be sure to enjoy this convenience feature.
